Deep Kyoto is a website for both residents and tourists, introducing those good places and people that make up the modern city. The primary focus of the blog is on cafes, bars and restaurants of character. However, any other information I consider beneficial for long and short-term visitors will also be included. All reviews are of places I personally have visited and taken a shine to, and include opening hours, plenty of photographs, and super clear directions so you don’t get lost. Please note that many places recommended on this website are not found in your average travel guide, and may require you to dust off your phrasebook and practice some basic Japanese. Deep Kyoto is also my excuse to venture deeper into the Japanese community, and to learn still more about this city and its people.
