For those who are staying in Kyoto this Christmas, if you are feeling the need for festive cheer, retreat to an Irish pub may be your best option. Both The Gael and Tadg’s Irish Pub are now taking bookings for Christmas dinner. The Gael is serving a 2,000 yen one plate dinner (with optional extras) on December 24th & 25th from 17:00 – 23:00. Details are here and contact information and a map can be found on their main page here. Reservations are required.
The Gael seems to have the edge on pricing (if you skimp on the extras and don’t order a pudding), but at 3,500 yen Tadg’s Christmas menu has more variety, (including an alternative Christmas menu for our vegan friends), and it comes with pudding included! Christmas dinner will be served on December 23rd and 24th from 6pm and on December 25th from 1pm. The mouth-watering details + contact information and a map can be found here. Reservations are advised.
For those wishing to party their way into Christmas there will be a reggae dance event at Tadg’s on the 23rd. Tadg says,
On Friday December 23rd, we will have a kick ass Christmas Dance party, featuring the amazing Roma Soul Band and the incredible Izah blue – Hi N Tenzion. The coolest reggae band in Japan. Tickets are 1,500 yen including one drink from our special drink menu, and we will also have a finger Buffet at no extra charge!
For something a little more sedate, Gnome Irish Pub will be hosting live Irish music on both the 23rd and 24th. Details can be found here. And of course, as previously noted, our good friend Felicity Greenland will be leading some carol singing outside city hall on Christmas Eve. Check this post for carol singing details.
