A couple of weeks ago someone or something exploited this website and so I have been unable to post anything (including Ian Ropke’s regular post – sorry Ian!). Lessons learned – keep your passwords complex and always update to the latest version of WordPress. Many thanks to Ichihashi-san for fixing the site for me.
In the interim Deep Kyoto readers have unfortunately been denied news of a couple of live music events . On May 1st Sweet Strings performed at Sarasa Kayuukoji Cafe, and you can see a video of their nice old-timey jazz here. On May 10th Koichi Yoshida had a shakuhachi recital at Zac Baran. You can see him perform with an Okinawan sanshin here and a Sitar player here. He’ll be performing again in the autumn so watch out for that.
Nearer in time, Sean Roe writes:
I have a couple of events coming up quite soon. On 22nd May Junkroom and some other Kansai based groups have organized a benefit concert to raise money for JVC for their work with children in Gaza. The event is called “For Gaza vol 1” Details can be found here. On 5th June Junkroom Vol 10 is on at Urbanguild with Andrea Valvini from Switzerland and Eddie135 from Paris as special guests. You can find more information here and here.
Thanks Sean! More posts soon!
Michael, Michael,
Glad to see that my main Kyoto competition is back online. 笑 I guess I have to get back to work now!
