Drawings.Echoes.Absence.Dreams ~ The Sonorous Theatre of Hanna Preuss

December 2, 2010 By Michael Lambe Leave a Comment

Micah says “My Slovenian friends are back in Kyoto from Ljubljana with a new music, poetry and movement performance just west of Shimogamo Hondori, on Kitaoji, northside…”
What Slovenian friends? These Slovenian friends:

Drawings.Echoes.Absence.Dreams.
Sometimes, we must sit down in the corners of a room, draw the curtains and silence all the noise. Just in case someone else arrives, we leave the door slightly open. The occurence of a birth or passing leads us back into the virtual, ritual space between us, back into the arms of our common presence.

About the Performance
The performance is based on the narrative of three women lingering in a space between life and death. Each of them is bound by an emotional lifeline tied to a person in the domain of the living. Before they may journey onward, the stories evoking these lifelines must be resolved.
…These are emotional journeys without a script, where stories are born in each individual participant according to their memories and longings, the unspeakable mysteries found in the most intimate nooks of the subconscious…

About the Author
Hanna Preuss is a sound artist dealing with the expressive and emotional influence of sound in theatre… In her works of art, theatre elements follow rules transposed from the field of music… As one enters the word of sonic creation by Hanna Preuss, it seems as if one has been submerged into an aquarium, transposed into another entirely magical word where individual senses lose their dominion and the whole body becomes a vibrating instrument, ever lighter, until it slowly embarks on a marvelous journey.
