Here’s some wonderful news for jazz lovers in Kyoto. Joshua Breakstone is back and ready to play! Here’s the good word from Joshua:
“Good news! We’ll be starting up our “First Fridays” series at Bonds Rosary again on July 3!!!
First guest, on July 3, is alto saxophonist Gary Tegler, a Kyoto fave. In August: a young saxophonist who I totally love, Kurita Yosuke, who has been playing with all the Tokyo guys as they come through town- this will be our 1st opportunity to play together. September: The queen of soul, Ono Midori- she’s a fabulous organist, funky and bluesy as they come, does tours to the US, Australia, Europe, a local gem: organ night is guaranteed to be hot! October: A special duo with pianist Phillip Strange- ’Nuff said. November: The swinging Iwanami Kunie, one of the highest profile singers in the area and deservedly so.”
Joshua and friends will play two sets starting at 19:30. Reservations can be made in advance or you can pay at the door. Bonds Rosary is a 4 minute walk from Exit 1A of Hankyu Kawaramachi Station and a 30 second walk from Exit 7 of Gion-Shijo Station. Here is a MAP of the location.
