Just writing to you to let you and the visitors to your blog know about the “For Gaza” Event coming up on the 24th July at Urbanguild here in Kyoto. This will be our 3rd event (4th if we count the screening of Iron Wall in May.)
“For Gaza” is a Kyoto based collective that creates events to raise awareness about the plight of Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, combining music, dance and politics with guest speakers, films and discussion.
This should be a great evening- with the proceeds going to JVC as has been the case with our previous events.
At “For Gaza vol 3” We’ll have guest speaker 役重善洋 (YakuShige Yoshihiro) from パレスチナの平和を考える会 who will be talking about the Global BDS movement against Israel – BDS stands for Boycott, Disinvestment and Sanctions. In his presentation he will discuss the options we have as ordinary citizens to change the policies of the Israeli Government towards Palestinian statehood by exerting pressure through these three means.

Of course, there will also be some great performances… Contemporary dancer Sanae Kuroko will perform together with experimental midi accordian player ryotaro… Seed will present an Improvisational Extravaganza! A brassy fusion of rhythmic jazz and world music – a group put together especially for this event by trumpeter James Barrett….

JunKroom regulars Yoji and his ghost band are a quirky trio that perform melodic electronica… …Llama Labo perform on didgeridoo with added beats – making their own blend of tribal electronica… …Buggatronic (Daniel Buess /James Hullick) are the Incredible Swiss/Australian duo featuring percussion, home made gadgetry and specially built robotic music machines!!!!!! …Plus Belly Dancers – a group of local dancers performing under the name Raks Khamis… …and DJ Sseeaann RRooee from the JunKroom event to finish the evening off.
