I mentioned this briefly before but I like the poster John Einarsen sent me, so here’s a reminder. John writes:
The incredibly detailed and imaginative yarn paintings of Huichol Shaman Jose Benitez Sanchez (1938-2009) will be shown at the Kampo Museum (Southeast corner of Heian Shrine in Kyoto) from November 1st through February 7th, 2010. These vivid images depict indigenous Huichol cosmology, mythology, and astounding visions induced by the sacred plant of the Huichol, peyote. The exhibition is being held to commemorate the 400th anniversary of relations between Japan and Mexico.
Please join us for the Opening Reception, 2:30pm, November 3rd at the Kampo Museum there will music, dance, a lecture, and food & drink!
