Many independent business in Kyoto have been suffering during the pandemic and it seems the future of the legendary performance center Urbanguild is also under threat. Urbanguild has provided a space and community for all things wild, weird, and wonderful for many years now, and it would be a terrible shame to lose it.
A highly creative online campaign to save this fine institution is now underway at the Keep Urbanguild Project bandcamp page. There you can make donations, or buy music, t-shirts, posters and other merchandise. And if you are hungry – there’s a takeout service as well. And as many Kyoto locals will be missing the live performances at Urbanguild – tomorrow evening some of our favorite performers will be taking part in the LoVE UrBANGUILD LIVE Concert on Facebook:
“7 performances for your pleasure.
These will be broadcast live from their homes/studios.*
We are a drop in the ocean of the artists and performers who have stood on UrBANGUILD’s stage.
This is an important venue for the underground, experimental, independent art scene, and we would be delighted and forever grateful for your donations to Keep Urbanguild Project.”
