A message from Tadg:

Dear Friends,

We will be closing Tadg’s bar for good on the 22nd Feb. There has, and will be, a few tears shed for the truly amazing times we have had over the past eight years. For this wonderful adventure I have shared with Mika I am so thankful and to everyone who has supported us, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Its time for change, a new adventure is starting.

But before we close we have some amazing music in store. This Friday the 7th [TONIGHT!] Ken the amazing Irish piper and Yuzuru on impeccable guitar & bouzouki, 8pm.

Saturday 8th: American singer song write Kaythrn Clare and some of the members of the Japanese Super Irish band O’Phan play. This should not be missed. Gig from 8pm.

Please take a look at Kathryn’s website.

“Mostly Leonard” – an open mic night on 21st Feb dedicated to the songs and poetry of Mr Leonard Cohen hosted by Mr Max Dodds. Please come early to sign up as it will be on a first come basis.

Lots of love

Tadg & Mika

Obviously this is very sad news, as Tadg’s is a great Kyoto institution. However, I have high hopes that Tadg & Mika will be reopening a new business in a new location in the not too distant future. For the time being, I’d like to express my gratitude for the friendship and support they have shown me over the last few years. And let’s all show them our support by popping over for one last drink at Tadg’s before they close. I think that Leonard Cohen night has my name on it… Thank you Tadg and Mika for so many great nights and so many memories! Long live Tadg’s!

That’s a real shame to hear that. I only went there two or three times during my year in Kyoto, but every time we had delicious food (the best lamb chops I’ve ever had!), lovely view over the river and city, a very relaxed and pleasant bar. I was hoping to go back one day, but good luck to Tadg and Mika in any future endeavour!
