I’m back. I’m still getting over the jet lag (can’t believe how long it’s taking!). And I will have the full interview with Sean Roe and detailed information about his up-coming For Gaza event up by the end of the week (promise!). In the meantime here are some up and coming events and exhibitions for you to jot down in your diaries:
Oct 2nd – Nov 11th: I spotted this on the train last night. An interesting looking Nihonga exhibition at the Museum of Kyoto (京都文化博物館) on Sanjo. More info (in Japanese) here. Access (in English) here.
Oct 22nd (this Thursday!): Two biggies.
Jidai Matsuri or The Festival of Ages (so called because it literally seems to take ages). About two thousand people dressed as characters from Kyoto’s 1200 year history parade from the Imperial Palace to Heian Jingu very very slowly. Read about it here and in slightly more detail here.
Kurama no Hi Matsuri – The Kurama Fire Festival. Lot’s of fire. Lots of people. Read about it here. It gets crowded (massive understatement) so go early. Event starts at 6 pm. Access is from Demachiyanagi station. Take the Eiden line to Kurama (the final stop).
Also! John Einarsen of Kyoto Journal writes:
The amazing paintings by Huichol Shaman Jose Benitez Sanchez will be shown at the Kampo Museum (Okazaki, Kyoto) from Oct. 31st through Feb. 2010. Lecture, dance & music from 2:30 on November 3rd. For more info. telephone 075-771-7130
And finally, many fine things from Mitsu Salmon who writes:
Thanks for all who came out to the last International Love Cabaret, there will be another one late November or early December.
