Up-and-Coming Art and Music Events

March 21, 2009 By Leave a Comment

I bumped into artist Nika Feldman in Sheep’s at the weekend and she told me about a free art and music event named “Echo Tour” coming up at the Kyoto prefectural office. A group of artists and designers (including Nika) will be exhibiting their works in the old main building from March 23rd until April 5th. The exhibition includes fashion, photography, fine art, prints and manga. Other artists include Takahashi Ryoko, Ogawa Tsuyoshi, Yatsuhashi Kiyomi and Kubo Takayuki. Also if you go on the 25th or the weekend of the 28th and 29th there will be live musical performances as well. On the 25th Hasegawa Kenichi will be playing from 6.30 pm. Groups on the 28th and 29th will be playing from 1.30 pm and include 空中ループ, Nabowa, Komatsu Masafumi, and 吉田と三日月スープ. And it’s all free!

The prefectural office is a short walk from the Marutamachi Station on the Karasuma subway line. Go north from Marutamachi Street (丸田町) on Shinmachi Street (新町) and it’s ahead of you on the left. There are some maps showing the way to the prefectural office (府庁) and the old main hall (旧本館) here.  The art exhibition will be open from 10:00 am till 6:00 pm except on the 25th, 28th and 29th when it will stay open till 8:00 pm. Tel: 075-414-5435

I wondered if you might be interested in mentioning the monthly event I run at Urbanguild? Details can be found here. There is also a facebook event page here.

Consider it done.
