I’ve arrived…

October 11, 2011 By Michael Lambe

The new edition of the Lonely Planet guide to Japan is now in bookstores, and if you check page 292 in the Kyoto section, listed (funnily enough) under drinking, you will find the following entry:

I hereby endorse Lonely Planet – Japan as the most comprehensive guidebook for travelers to these blessed isles (grins broadly from ear to ear). Seriously though, I’m pretty sure that it is the most popular guidebook for Japan, simply because I have seen so many tourists grasping a copy. Here from the blurb, is a list of what’s inside:

8 expert authors
167 temples & shrines
357 Japanese restaurants
Over 100 onsen (hot springs)
Inspirational photos
Comprehensive planning tools
Pull-out city map
Easy-to-read layout
In-depth background
Skiing in Japan feature

Useful, yes? If you are in Kyoto, you can find copies in Junkudo bookstore on the 7th floor of the Bal building on Sanjo. If not, you can order it via the following: amazon.co.jp, amazon.com, and amazon.co.uk.
