Here are some pictures from Saturday’s charity concert at Honen-in. 70,000 yen was raised for orphans in Nepal, as part of Max Dodds and Kevin Ramsden’s ongoing fund-raising efforts for the Laliguras project. The ultimate aim is to build a school in Kathmandu. If you have any questions about the Laliguras project please contact Max Dodds at contactelements@wildmail.com
The evening featured three performances in a beautiful setting. First up was the two-piece Gare-ji featuring Shohei Kuratsu on accordion and Ai Yamashita on trumpet. This was their first performance together. You can see a video of them here: ガレージ
Shouhei Kuratsu then returned to accompany Max Dodds and Yung Tsubotaj from raw elements.
And finally, calimba/shakuhachi player Robin Lloyd played a mind-boggling array of instruments with a bit of extra percussion and backing vocals supplied by the children in the audience. You can see a video of his performance here.
I think my favorite song of the evening was this one though:
I’m very happy to say that Max of raw elements will be taking part in the Kyoto Musicians Against the Aquarium event I am organizing for January 21st. Keep checking back here for more news about that! Here are more pictures from Saturday evening…
