Chikyuya is three floors of cheap and cheerful izakaya style booze and nosh a little to the south of Hankyu department store. The atmosphere is super casual here; everyone crowds in together and the evidence of many a good night is left pinned to the walls in the form of photos, business cards and obscure notes. This is only a small selection from the many dishes on offer. And you will notice there are a lot of iddy-biddy things because izakaya dining is most fun when you go with a big bunch of people and order lots of small dishes and share.

The easiest way to get there is to go south from Shijo on Kawaramachi, after about 3 minutes you will pass a convenience store and then a standing-only bar on your left. When you see a car park on your left, turn left and it’s on your left again.
