Kris Roche @ Modern Times #7

October 16, 2010 By Michael Lambe Leave a Comment

“I don’t think people really understand the power that music has… It’s not about you anymore. It’s something bigger…” – Kris Roche

Just over a week ago I had the good fortune not only to see Kris Roche play live but to sit and have a chat with him. I was impressed by his commitment to his music and his earnest desire to keep on pushing himself and improving what he does. Born and raised in Kyoto, Kris has just recently returned here after studying music for four years in Boston. Being abroad, he told me, has really stretched his musical horizons and he seems to have learned a lot from his experience as a street musician too. In his interactions with passersby he has come to realize the power music has to move people and how important that can be. Here is one such powerful song, the last song in our “Kris Roche Week” series: “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”.

Kris is on myspace here. Kris’s music is available here. Previous Kris Roche videos here: “What you got”,  “What’s going on?”,  “Good or Bad”,  “What a Wonderful World”, “Waiting in Vain” & my personal favorite “Big Fish“.
