Vanilla

February 8, 2010 By Leave a Comment

Vanilla is a stylish location for lunch, dinner or just a simple coffee. They do a very good coffee.

The interior is decorated with cool, mellow Scandinavian furnishings. Presumably there is some connection with the “Nordic Countries” store downstairs.

Anyway it makes for a very relaxing space.

The food is Japanese + Chinese + Western fusion. We had spaghetti with scallops, sea urchin and spinach. The cream sauce was delicious.

These smoked salmon and cream cheese spring rolls were nice and crispy on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth luscious on the inside.

Everything was reasonably priced and Mewby and I resolved to come again. But next time – for cake!

Cafe Vanilla is situated on the north side of Nishikikoji doori between Takakura and Higashinotoin. It’s on the second floor of the Hokuo-Kan building. Check out the Vanilla website for a menu and a map.

Vanilla is often booked up for wedding parties and the like so you might want to call ahead in advance to check they are open for business.
