Alam Bali

February 17, 2011 By Michael Lambe

Two weeks ago, Mewby and I celebrated our third anniversary as a couple. We thought it would be a nice idea to try and recapture some of the magic of our super romantic holiday in Bali last summer, so we chose a Balinese restaurant for dinner. It was lovely. We had our own little private cubicle veiled from other tables with lots of heavy netting, heaps of delicious Balinese (style) food and to my personal delight, plenty of Bintang beer. The food was exotic enough to keep the evening interesting, and the quiet, cosy mood was just perfect. As far as romantic dinners for two are concerned the restaurant Alam Bali gets the Deep Kyoto seal of approval! Here’s the food:

To whet the appetite ~ Left: a mussel with extra spice. Right: おこげ rice crackers & cheese dip
Spring rolls with salmon.
Maguro (tuna) steak in a red wine sauce.
Shrimp in a mayonnaise sauce.
Baked lobster.

And here are some mood pictures for you:

Alam Bali is on Anekoji Street (one street south of Oike) one block west of Karasuma. Here is a map.
