Kamo’s All You Can Eat Veggie Buffet

March 20, 2014 By Michael Lambe 8 Comments

Now that Obanzai’s organic buffet is closing, it is good to know that there are alternatives. Kamo serves up all organic locally grown vegetables in all kinds of tasty combinations. They take pride in the fact their vegetables are 都野菜 or “Miyako vegetables” which means they are truly local. Apparently the famed label 京野菜 – “Kyo yasai” does not always guarantee that the veggies actually come from Kyoto! Mewby and I went there a couple of weeks ago for lunch and thought it was pretty good value. Here’s Mewby’s lunch:

I’ve eaten here twice and found it really good, both times. Sometimes, you just need to recharge with a lot of veggies!

We went there today at about 15:05 (got stuck somewhere so we couldn’t make it earlier) and the girl told us that lunch was only until 15:00. I tried to persuade her saying I’ve read 16:00 on the internet, and also we came all the way just to eat their lunch, but were refused anyway. It was quite disappointing, I was very hungry and it was cold and raining outside, I don’t feel like coming back again.
So people beware, lunch time is only until 3.

Is the all you can drink alcohol possible for lunch?

I’m very sorry about that. I copied the times from their website. When I get a chance I will make inquiries about it…

Hi Michael! Love your blog. Thinking of trying this place, but was curious if you knew if a good lot of the dishes are vegan/vegetarian? I’ve come to discover that lots of veg is cooked in dashi here… Not so safe for some of us! Keep up the great work!

    Hi Jessica,
My apologies for the delayed response. I just had a quick look at the website and at least one dish definitely contains dashi and there is some meat in some dishes too. I’m pretty sure you can find enough veggie options there, but you would have to ask the staff which dishes are meat and fish free to be sure.
