NEGA・POSI

September 20, 2007 By Michael Lambe

NEGA・POSI is a very cool live music venue a little way south of Marutamachi Dori on Ainomachi Dori (間之町通り). They have live music here several days a week and the entry fee ranges from ¥1500 to ¥3500 (cheaper if you book in advance). In addition to the well stocked bar (ice-cold draft beers at ¥600!) they also have a food menu which I haven’t tried yet, but judging by the gusto with which the guys around me were tucking into their donburi rice bowls, I’d hazard a guess it’s pretty tasty. Well, it’s a live music venue, so the best way to introduce it is with some of that same music, eh?

Here’s local singer/songwriter Okuda Satoko accompanied on piano by the eccentric performer “Kasou no Takeo”. The song is called “Ongaku” which means “Music”.

And here’s a band of a different genre:FUKAFUKA

Many of the artists on the schedule are regular players here, so if you take a shine to someone you can come back and see them again. Just check the monthy schedule to see what’s on and when. To find it head south from Marutamachi on Ainomachi (間之町通り) and after a few minutes you’ll come to a small park on your right. NEGA・POSI is on your left and down the stairs. Tel: 075-252-8856. And here’s a MAP. NEGA・POSI is also available for private functions.
